We’ve actually been to Monticello three times. One lesson, it’s not a place to visit on national holidays, particularly 4th of July. Even though it is an appropriate holiday for Jefferson, it’s also a day when a lot of other people want the visit. The line for the house tour was very long and it was quite warm (hot). The last time we visited was in 2009 and we opted not to do the house tour, instead doing a couple of exterior tours.
