This Week on Instagram April 13-19 2014

Trying to adjust to life in a house. Definitely not an easy task, especially when we just want to get back on the road! A lot of this week was spent sorting through our material belongings, listing items for sale on Facebook Yard Sale Groups, and on the local classifieds. We’ve had great success, but its been time consuming and a bit tiring. We also started working on the bed conversion in the Airstream. We are hoping to get the beds to the point where we can order mattresses next week! Spent some time with Grandma at the Thanksgiving Point Natural History Museum (and went out for lunch and ice cream afterward!) as well as on household chores like making sure the sprinklers are working.

Wow! What a week!! We started last weekend in Petaluma, CA with Sam’s family watching General Conference. We finished up the shelving project for our upper cabinets, and then headed out on Monday over to Skyline Wilderness Regional Park in Napa, CA and had some more cousin time. Tuesday afternoon we met up with Heather & Jeff of adventureswithaudrey.com for some hiking and sorbets. So fun to meet some new friends!! After a little grocery shopping, and a drive over the Sierra Nevada Mountains we hung out with Sam’s aunt in Reno on Wednesday evening before pushing all the way across Nevada on Thursday (boring!). We found a sweet boondocking spot near the Bonneville Speedway for Thursday night, took some epic photos, and then made it to our house in Lehi Friday afternoon.

Like I said, What a week! More on re-entry, our plans, and details, details, and more details next week!

Cousin time! We had so much fun courtesy parking outside Sam’s brother’s house for a few days this week. The kids jumped on the tramp, played Lego’s, we went on a bike ride, visited the Jelly Belly Factory, and earned 2 Jr. Ranger Badges! Whew. We also camped out at Samuel P. Taylor State Park closer to the coast. Tucked in among the Redwood trees, we’ve been absolutely content. We also survived the windy road out to the Point Reyes Lighthouse and climbed the 308 stairs down to see the Fresnel Lens.

This week was spent between Clovis, CA and Mountain View, CA. It was fabulous. We went to a trampoline jump place in Clovis with our friends and the kids had a blast! Okay, not just the kids. We did too. Sam and I were both extremely sore the next day. We crafted, watched movies, ate yummy food, and generally enjoyed strengthening our friendships. After that we spent one night in Pinnacles National Park (no internet or cell coverage and well, Sam has to work), then New Brighton State Beach with a trips to downtown Santa Cruz for more books, and out to Natural Bridge State Park for tide pooling. We are currently in an RV Park (probably the most sketchy we’ve stayed at yet) in Mountain View to visit with friends. We toured the Googleplex (Go Android!), and spent some time at a local organic farm. Such a peaceful and relaxing afternoon!

Today we head up to the North Bay to see family! They are on Spring Break next week, so I’ve officially declared it our break as well. We plan to visit Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco, earn some Jr. Ranger Badges, camp out at the coast, and play with cousins my kids haven’t seen in over a year. We are excited!

We ultimately decided to postpone Cara’s potty training. It was a rough decision, but after two weeks and everyone miserable it was for the best. That decision made, we set about exploring more of San Diego this last week with visits to the Mormon Battalion Museum, San Diego Zoo, USS Midway Museum, and San Diego Safari Park. Too tired on Thursday to explore, we spent the day running errands, doing laundry, catching up on school workbooks, and then a drive in movie that evening to see the Lego Movie! So fun. Friday morning we packed up the Airstream, said goodbye to San Diego and drove north to a beautiful beach-side campground near Point Mugu State Beach. Going to sleep to the sound of waves crashing against the shore is extremely therapeutic.

Continuing north this week up Highway 1. We are excited for the drive!
