Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

I’ve wanted to visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park for months, so when we dashed through Southern New Mexico on our way to Disneyland it was definitely on the short list. It didn’t disappoint. When We Visited: January 2014 Ages of Kids: 8, 6, 3 Where We Stayed: Brantley Lake State Park. About a 30 minute…

  • Thanks! Another one to add to my “list”. I have seen stuff about this place before but was not sure if it was worth it. It looks like something my boys would like though!ReplyCancel

  • We pretty much did the same tour as y’all did. Walk down and took the elevator back out. For lunch, though, we ate at the concession in the cave.

I was 13 the first time I went on a cave tour. Our daughters always enjoyed the few caves we went in, as have our grandkids.ReplyCancel

Our Top 14 Things To Do in Washington DC With Young Kids

We spent 3 months in the DC area and saw A LOT, but what if you don’t have the luxury of seeing only one thing every day or every week? What should you take your kids to see? What should you skip? Glad you asked. Here’s a list of our favorites (and not so favorites):…

Where did you all stay in the RV? We are about to start researching, but you guys are such a great source of RV park info!ReplyCancel

We actually didn’t have our Airstream then! Sad, but true. This was during the house swapping phase of our life. We did visit the Prince William National Forest (and earn a Jr. Ranger Badge) and I’m pretty sure they had camping as well (down by Quantico). Its a bit outside DC but beautiful. Are you guys going to be there for the Cherry Blossom Festival?? If so, I’m jealous!! Okay, jealous that you are going there anyway. I LOVE the area. 🙂 🙂ReplyCancel

Goblin Valley, Utah

I desperately needed a break from the cold weather and finagled the whole family into road tripping with us to Goblin Valley State Park over what was definitely NOT Spring Break. Yes, I was that desperate. I haven’t been there since I was little, and Sam and the kids have never been, and it sounded WARM. That was pretty much my only…

  • Ah yes! I loved having a radio on hikes and other various events. Made me feel special and was really fun. I’ll have to remember that for when our kids get a bit older. Loved the video that Sam put together of the trip. Look forward to more story telling via video.ReplyCancel

  • Where did you camp or stay down there? I’m thinking if a solo trip and have never been. Looks like a fun adventure. Found my way to your site via the Instagram feed trying to figure where/how/what you needed up in a trailer on the east coast! Funny the things I find at 3am with a dose of insomnia.ReplyCancel

Hey Ryan! Thanks for the comment! When we went to Goblin Valley we stayed at the park run campground. We were in a tent (they have tent pads) but my parents had their tent trailer. Both fit just fine. The campground has shaded pavilions over all the tables which was great since there are very few trees. Super nice. As we drove around, we also noticed a lot of RV’s parked outside the campground along the base of the plateaus. No hookups, but if you are fine boondocking for a night or two you could stay there as well.

WE are still trying to figure out how we ended up in a trailer on the East Coast. 🙂 I’ve updated our About page so there’s more information there if you need another 3am distraction.ReplyCancel
