First Lead Climb in Years – Rock Climbing in Maple Canyon, UT

Back in high school I worked on the rock climbing wall at our community recreation center in Sandy, UT. I loved climbing, so when I landed a job in college at BYU Outdoors Unlimited I was pretty excited to have a steep discount on climbing gear. Not only that, I associated with others who shared the same love. By the…

9 Family Friendly, Adventure Stops Along the Oregon Coast {Plus a Few Bonus Activities}

For anyone that hears “coast” and immediately dons their swimming trunks, the Oregon Coast may come as a bit of a shock. There are beautiful beaches, but the vibe is definitely more rugged than its southern California counterpart.  Crashing, intense waves, cold water, and wind can make swimming a less than ideal activity, but no…

Summary & Review of REI’s Powder Mountain Outessa Summit

  • Way to rally after a crummy night’s sleep – that takes some moxie! As does willingly going to a foam-rolling class. Love this review & the summit looks like fun! Thanks for posting!ReplyCancel

  • Thanks for posting the review! I love a photo heavy post! It looks like you had an awesome time even though the first night was a bit rough. How cold did it get that first night? What type sleeping bag did you use and do you think you’ll go again? I hope they do it next year. I’m game on flying across country for some fun like this!ReplyCancel

      You know, my phone said it was only 40 or so, and I have a 32 degree down bag but that wind chill was unreal. They are making modifications for next year and absolutely I’m planning on going!ReplyCancel

  • I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make wise decisions after sleep deprivation. Way to go!ReplyCancel

Whitewater Rafting in Jackson WY with Lewis & Clark River Expeditions

While attending college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, I worked as a rafting guide for Outdoors Unlimited on the daily section of the Green River. I spent many a weekend in the summer sleeping out under the stars by night and navigating or swimming the rapids by day. I learned to soak up the sights, smells,…
