3 Things Not to Miss While Touring Monticello with Young Children

When we visited: October 2013 Ages of Children: 8, 6, 3 First off, the mansion tour. This doesn’t count on my list, because I think its obviously the main reason you want to go. But just for fun, I’ll give you a quick run down of how our experience went. Mansion Tour Buy tickets at…

  • We’ve actually been to Monticello three times. One lesson, it’s not a place to visit on national holidays, particularly 4th of July. Even though it is an appropriate holiday for Jefferson, it’s also a day when a lot of other people want the visit. The line for the house tour was very long and it was quite warm (hot). The last time we visited was in 2009 and we opted not to do the house tour, instead doing a couple of exterior tours.

Monticello is a favorite of ours.ReplyCancel

Halloween at National Harbor “Chillin with My Peeps”

The Event I normally am obsessed with Halloween. Seriously. I love everything about it. Not the creepy part, but the fun, costume parade, trick-or-treat, decorate, dress up part as evidenced by the last 3 years of Halloween documented on my blog here, here, and here (Wow, check out how LITTLE my kids were in 2010). This…

I LOVE it! Rachel looks like an awesome mummy. Andrew’s cape throwing is fun and Cara looks delightful. Your yard is perfect! It sounds like you did have a magical night. Since you weren’t able to trick or treat in the neighborhood you know, why not go to the cool festival thing?ReplyCancel

Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia

Want to see something gorgeous?? I thought so. The Blue Ridge Parkway extends from Shenandoah Valley and Skyline Drive all the way to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  While my parents were visiting from Utah, we took an evening and drove a section of it on our way to Monticello. It was cold, foggy,…

  • I’m browsing through your old posts and this post is the second one where the link to the “full photo gallery” is broken. It goes to a “404 page.”

We been on the Parkway in several different sections, but not the one you traveled on. Wonderful scenery, great for taking pictures.ReplyCancel

Thanks for the comment and the heads up on the broken link. I’ll dig in and see why it changed. I probably moved folders around on the back end.

We can’t wait to drive the whole thing!ReplyCancel

Mt. Vernon Trail – A Bike Date

We are used to a weekly Thursday night date. It doesn’t matter what we end up doing, we could run errands, see a movie, go out to dinner, play a game of laser tag, anything. We just always went out on Thursday nights and tried not to let anything get in the way. I looked…
