Pizza, Date Night and San Fran

This Week on Instagram March 29 - April 4 2014

Travel Dates: March 29 – April 4, 2014

California has been blessed with quite a lot of rain this last week. Although it makes venturing out difficult, we are grateful many prayers have been answered for the needed moisture! We’ve had a great week hanging out with Sam’s family. A visit to the BEST pizza place in existence, trips to the city, grandma snuggles are just a few. I was sick at the beginning of the week so we didn’t get much done Monday or Tuesday, although somehow I managed to take the kids to the Children’s Museum where we played with clay and stop motion for over an hour.

We also earned the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park Junior Ranger Badge, ate ice cream at Ghiradelli Square, made some new Airstream friends, Sam got in a few work projects, and we visited Uncle Jake at the White Cap store he manages in the city.

Grandma invited the kids over for a sleepover, which allowed Sam and I to attend a session at the Oakland LDS temple, go out for a delicious Mediterranean dinner, and buy new shoes at REI!

Point Mugu, Pismo Beach, and SLO

This Week on Instagram March 8-14

Travel Dates: March 8 -14, 2014

Sometimes not having a set place to stay turns out to be in our favor. We were driving up Highway 1 in California headed to Mugu State Beach, but not sure exactly where the campground was. We got caught in a bit of construction and missed the turnoff to one of the campgrounds. As we kept driving, however, we noticed some campers in spots right along the beach. “Let’s stay there!” I shouted in excitement. So we did. It ended up being one of our favorite spots and got put on the “we need to come back here when we have a generator and can stay longer” list of campgrounds.

We also ended up seeing Sam’s dad this week in Pismo Beach and eating the BEST clam chowder I’ve ever had in my life. Along with four wheeling in the dunes and walking along the beach, Pismo has hit my list of favorite places as well.

Other events this week included the kids watching their first baseball game, visiting the SLO Children’s Museum and Farmer’s Market, daddy wrestling on the bed, and official camping with a campfire, s’mores, and sleeping in a tent!

New Year’s in Houston, Texas

This Week On Instagram Dec 28-Jan 3

Travel Dates: Dec 28, 2013 – January 3, 2014

We’ve never been much into staying up late and ringing in the New Year at the stroke of midnight, so our week was actually pretty laid back. We stayed up over the weekend, however, having late night talks with friends before moving on to an RV park in downtown Houston. We’ve explored the museums & zoo, had a traditional New Year’s Day breakfast, bought new batteries for the Airstream, celebrated Sam’s birthday with Blue Bell Ice Cream, toured the USS Texas, and started gym class with the kids for homeschool. See? Not much going on.
