Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

When We Visited: January 2014 Ages of Kids: 8, 6, 3 Where We Stayed: Brantley Lake State Park. About a 30 minute…

  • Thanks! Another one to add to my “list”. I have seen stuff about this place before but was not sure if it was worth it. It looks like something my boys would like though!ReplyCancel

  • We pretty much did the same tour as y’all did. Walk down and took the elevator back out. For lunch, though, we ate at the concession in the cave.

I was 13 the first time I went on a cave tour. Our daughters always enjoyed the few caves we went in, as have our grandkids.ReplyCancel

Manassas National Battlefield Park – Virginia

Convenient to our house in Virginia (which we house-swapped into, prior to Airstream travel) were two National Parks. The first was Prince William Forest, and the second was Manassas National Battlefield. Our visit here required a wait, as the 2013 government shutdown placed it just out of reach. We visited the first day the National…

  • I am just filing away all of your trip posts for future use 🙂 I went to see the liberty bell when I was a kid! I do not remember much else about that trip though 🙂ReplyCancel

  • My wife and I visited Philly in 2010, before we had kids because my wife had a conference. I tagged along and while she was doing her conference thing, I got to explore the city. Such a cool place. I liked all the usual places, but a few local things I remember are elphret’s (sp?) way, which is the oldest neighborhood in the US that people are still living in, Franklin fountain is DELICIOUS, and I liked a lot of the artwork and sculptures, the giant clothespin & the area of game pieces. Here is a video I made of it if you want to watch: http://youtu.be/JW-Z19Zuo_0ReplyCancel
