About Us

Welcome!

Hi there! We are the Curren Family. We traveled full time in our Airstream from 2013-2017 and now split our time between our small condo in Teton Valley, ID and the road.

As avid, outdoor, travel and adventure enthusiasts we are here to provide tips, advice, and inspiration to help you develop healthier and stronger family relationships.

How We Backpacked on Stockton Island in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore With Kids

Sam and I have never considered traveling in an Airstream “camping”. Camping is what you do in a tent either with a car or in the back country. We had the goal this summer of introducing our kids to backpacking, and at first we planned to go at least once a month all summer. It…

Mountain Biking (Off Road Cycling) in Minneapolis, MN

Let’s start this post by saying we were aware of the love affair Minnesotans have for road cycling. They often plow the bike paths before the roads and ride (commute to work) all winter long. Minneapolis has some of the best (and arguably the most – sorry Portland!) bike paths we’ve ever seen. What we…

4th of July 25 Mile Watermelon Bike Ride in Minneapolis, MN

The longest bike ride we’d done to date was 10 miles along the bike path between Medford & Ashland, OR. The kids and I dropped the truck off to get detailed and we needed to keep ourselves occupied all day. We rode 5 miles out and 5 miles back, stopping to play at parks along…

  • The next step for the Curren family should be a kids triathlon. ithe only caveat is that they should be strong swimmers. The distances are adjusted based on age. Lucy had to swim a couple of laps, ride a few miles and run about one mile. The older kids do more. My kids are swim team kids so that is not an issue but twenty five miles on a bike is probably more difficult. They do them all over the country and they are really fun. Great post.ReplyCancel

I think we’d try a triathlon if it weren’t for all the running and swimming! 😉 We’d have to get them in swim lessons first, I think. None of our kids have really had lessons and while they can “swim” I’m not sure how technically correct their form is.ReplyCancel

Strawberry Picking & I Run Our Bikes Into an Overhang

I honestly knew it would happen sooner or later. I’ve heard horror stories of friends forgetting they had bikes mounted to the top of the car when they pulled into their garage. Since we are frequently carrying all 5 bikes around on the back of our truck, I kind of forget they are there sometimes…

New, Fun Ways to Dress Up Your S’mores

We rarely have campfires, but when we do my kids love to roast S’mores. After seeing the “So Much S’More to Do” book in a half dozen National Park visitor centers, we decided to buy one. We loved it so much that we gave a book, plus a dozen or so S’more fixings to all…

  • We came from a big peanut butter family and had bonfires regularly so our favorite was a typical s’more but with peanut butter on the graham cracker. We also tried the same but with chocolate chip cookies! You could only eat one!ReplyCancel
