Golden Spike, Ruby Mountains and Lake Tahoe – Putting on Some Miles

Travel Dates: July 12-18, 2014

We made it out of Utah! Amazing! Jess spent last Saturday at a photography workshop in Salt Lake City while Sam took the kids around downtown.

We then spent a day near Brigham City with Sam doing a work visit and Jess taking the kids to Golden Spike National Historic Site to earn a Jr. Ranger Badge. Super fun stuff!!

After that it was off to Nevada! We hit a beautiful spot in the Ruby Mountains, ate at one of our favorite pizza places in Winnemucca, visited some friends in Wellington and finally made it to South Lake Tahoe for the weekend. Lots of driving recently, but we are hanging in there!

Back to Salt Lake City Because My Husband Loves Me

This Week on Instagram July 5-11 2014

From skiing on a glacier in Great Basin National Park, to playing in the water at Payson Lakes Campground in the Uinta National Forest, this week has been great! The kids earned their Jr. Ranger vests (and we found some their sizes).

We also visited some friends in our hometown of Lehi, Utah and had our truck looked out (we lost some bolts on our exhaust manifold) and were able to visit the Timpanogos Temple.

We are spending the weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah so Jess can attend a photography workshop and the next week we head to California. Can’t wait!

Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks & Great Basin National Parks

Travel Dates: June 27 – July 4, 2014

What a great week! We spent last weekend with Jess’ family in Bryce Canyon looking through telescopes at the Annual Astronomy Festival and sneaking out in the middle of the night to take photos of the Milky Way. Sam also had a whirlwind solo trip to Boise, ID for his nephew’s baptism.

After a bike ride down Red Canyon on Monday morning we had a failed attempt to stay near Navajo Lake in the Dixie National Forest, but ended up at a beautiful spot in Cedar Breaks National Park Instead. We enjoyed hiking, the wildflowers, and the kids earned 2 Jr. Ranger Badges.

We then spent two days with full hook-ups at the KOA in Cedar City before moving on to Great Basin National Park on Friday!

We Leave the Lehi House and Head to Bryce Canyon

Travel Dates: June 21-27, 2014

I think this has probably been the laziest week ever. And boy did we ever need it! After tent camping Friday night at one of our favorite spots up American Fork Canyon, we spent the weekend parked and friend’s and family’s houses. We left around 11am Monday morning and made it to Bryce Canyon National Park around dinner. And then…. nothing. For like 3 days. It was bliss. In pajamas until noon, reading books, playing tablets, eating good food and just finally getting the opportunity to relax. It has been heaven.

Jess’ parents have joined us for the annual Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival, with her dad bringing his telescope and volunteering two nights. Lots of hiking, playing games, and enjoying this beautiful park and the amazing weather!

Work, Projects & Play in Utah

This Week on Instagram June 7-13 2014

Travel Dates: June 7-13, 2014

Work projects and play. That’s pretty much what our week has been. Sam doing work projects, and Jess playing with the kids. I think its a toss up as to who is more tired. Sam installed our new skylight, put the rain covers over the vents, strung wire for the new internet antenna, and finished up the bike rack for the back of the truck. We also found and bought our final bike: a cyclocross! We are super excited about that. We visited Hale Center Theater in Orem for their production of Peter Pan, and Jess took the kids to the Discovery Children’s Museum in SLC for a fun day of play!
