Travel Dates: December 6-12, 2014

What a great week!! We decided to head to Yosemite from the Oakland Temple, just because we could. We stayed in a little RV park outside the National Park for the weekend, and drove the hour into the Valley Visitor Center Monday morning. We then proceeded to hike about 10 miles, gaining 2000 feet in elevation up to Nevada Falls via the Mist trail and back down the JMT. We are SO incredibly proud of our kids and their little legs! I still can’t believe we pulled it off. After leaving Yosemite we headed south, met up with some friends in Bakersfield and finally landed in the Rainbow Basin Natural Area outside of Barstow, CA. The desert greeted us the first night with the most amazing sunset!

From here we will head to Las Vegas on Sunday, and then pack the Airstream away into storage while we drive to Sandy, UT to be with family for Christmas!

Finishing Up Projects, Marin Headlands, and Oakland

Nov 29 - Dec 5 2014

Travel Dates: November 29 – Dec 5, 2014

Picked up a little wandering action this week as Jess visited the Marin Headlands and the Point Bonita lighthouse with the kids. We also spent time courtesy parking with friends, finishing up wood projects, and finally heading out of Petaluma after two weeks of bumping around town!

We drove about 1.5 hours to the Oakland temple where we’ve been in the RV parking spots for 2 nights. Its been fabulous as we’ve been able to both do an endowment session, take the kids to see the Christmas lights, and even do sealings together! After visiting with friends in Mtn View last night, we’re calling it done in this area and headed to Yosemite today!

Thanksgiving in California

November 22-28 2014

Travel Dates: November 22 -28, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving! We have had a FABULOUS week hanging out with friends and family. Lots of cousin time, an afternoon playing in the surf at the beach, great food, Airstream improvement projects, and a memorial service for Sam’s grandmother who passed away a few months ago.

It’s amazing to me how little we post on Instgram when life is busy and we are doing more “normal” things. We are excited to get back into traveling this week as we start heading south towards Las Vegas!

Sam Flies Out for a Conference & Leaves Us in Oregon

Nov 8-14 2014

Travel Dates: November 8-14, 2014

This week was pretty special! It marks the first time that Sam and I have been separated since we started this crazy journey one year ago! After spending Saturday exploring Captain Jack’s Stronghold in the Lava Beds National Monument, we journeyed north to one of our favorite campgrounds near Medford. I stayed with the kids for the week at Valley of the Rogue State Park while Sam hopped a small plane and flew to Las Vegas, NV for the Amazon AWS Re:Invent Conference. He got to stay up late geeking with his pals while the kids and I did a thorough cleaning on the trailer, truck, and played our little hearts out. Overall it was a great week, but we are definitely glad to be all back together!

Bend, the Painted Hills and Lava Beds National Monument

Travel Dates: November 1 – 7, 2014

Nov 1-7 2014

After a wonderful Halloween in Lincoln City, we decided to get off the Oregon Coast. The forecast was a little too rainy heavy for our liking to inland we went! We met up with some traveling friends in Bend, OR and then headed to the Painted Hills, John Day Fossil Beds, and then finally down into California to visit the Lava Beds National Monument. We loved the “dry side” of Oregon and have enjoyed the sunshine even with slightly colder temperatures (it was 28 degrees when we woke up this morning!).

Exploring the Lava Beds National Monument has been a blast as they have over two dozen caves to venture through. We have one more night here before heading back up into Medford, Oregon for all of next week!
