Wipe Out! Cleaning Up in the Boondocks

There are a few terms that get tossed around in the RV/camping world that are probably unfamiliar to most people. While I’ve never seen an actual dictionary to define these terms, we’ve been around for awhile and we’ve seen a general consensus among the full time crowd. Many travelers prefer to stay in RV Parks,…

  • Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo is my favorite dry shampoo, too — and I’ve tried a LOT of varieties. It’s the only one that doesn’t leave my scalp feeling super itchy, and I feel like it’s also lighter than a lot of other varieties so it doesn’t weigh my hair down. I’ll have to give the Action wipes a try. I usually use Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes. They aren’t super heavy duty, but my skin is fairly sensitive and these don’t irritate me. I think this winter we’ll be doing more dry camping than I was brave enough to try last winter, so I’ll need something more heavy duty. Thanks for the tips!ReplyCancel

    • Jess

Oooh! Good to hear its your favorite because I haven’t tried that many brands. Hooray! My face is pretty sensitive so I don’t actually use the Action Wipes or Epic wipes on my face. I’ll have to look for the Burt’s Bees ones. Those sound like something I could use. Thanks!ReplyCancel

  • […] Cleaning up after an adventure can sometimes take the experience from great to amazing! There’s nothing like a quick “shower” after a really hard ride, or being able to freshen up in the backcountry. Action Wipes has donated their “Survival Kit”  to “Cleanse, Soothe, and Protect”. It’s a BPA-Free Loksak bag that contains 6 Action Wipes Singles to cleanse, a 1/2 oz Healing Honey Stick and Healing Honey Lip Goo to Soothe (dry skin, bug bites, rashes, sunburns, you name it) and a 1/2 oz Natural Sun Screen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays (blog post on Action Wipes here). Possibly the World’s Coolest Hammock Strap.

I’m a hammock guy. We added an ENO hammock to our gear collection long ago, and it comes out whenever we get the chance. We read in them, work in them, and even snuggle the kids in them. The ENO DoubleNest hammock we’ve been using have been good, but we have not been happy with…

  • We love hammocks when we camp. But the right straps are always the issue for keeping trees safe and the hammock secure. We’re heading over to check out this Kickstarter campaign now. Thanks so much.

Awesome! Hope you were able to get in on it!ReplyCancel

  • William Hurt

Looking at the photos of your Atlas straps, it’s very obvious that they’ve been left in the sun for a loooong time (thread is bleached). I too am curious about the long term durability of the ultimate straps but you should know that ANY strap exposed to long term UV will eventually fail. Safe hammocking!ReplyCancel

  • yeah those straps do look way better! i love hearing about kickstarter projects like this. we have a super old eno hammock that’s really bulky and heavy that we’ve been meaning to upgrade. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • […] Hammocks are all the craze right now and for good reason. We use ours all the time and have found ways to rig it to the truck when two trees are not readily available. We’ve been impressed with the quality of Ultimate Hammocks, their prices, and most recently their Ultimate Hammock Straps. Definitely the lightest, smallest ones on the market right now (blog post here). […]ReplyCancel

Gear Review: Scosche Magnetic Phone Mounts for the Truck and Airstream

Smartphones are a full-time traveler’s best friend, providing music, navigation, email, social media, a camera, and occasionally even phone calls. Of all the places we put our phone on a daily basis, there are two more important than most. We have a car mount that holds the phone in a good place for navigation, and…

In the photo i see you’ve attached the magnetic portion of the mount to the wall. Did you buy the whole mount and remove the magnetic part and tape it to the wall? I don’t see that these are sold separately.

Thanks for all your help and tips. Absolutely invaluable to a new AirStream owner. You’ve done all the trial and error!ReplyCancel

    • Jess

You are welcome! I’m not quite sure I understand the question though. There’s links in the post to both the car mount one (dash mount), and the one we attached to the wall (flush mount).ReplyCancel
